Quali: 1. Remy Gardner 2. Luca Marini 3. Fabio DiGiannantonio

Sam Lowes 4th (Sam, with the World title in sight and possible, suffered a broken right wrist, and in pain decided to ride for the Championship) Others in contention were Marco Bezzecchi, Luca Marini and Enea Bastianini.

Race:

Although it was Luca Marini off the line first, by the first two corners Remy Gardner, with a forceful but fair move, showed the Sky VR46 rider who was boss on this day. We soon had drama with Fabio DiGiannantonio and Nicolo Bulega down and out, in a hard crash, with gravel flying in all directions and Fabio being hit full on his back by Bulega’s bike.

On lap four it was Remy Gardner, Luca Marini and incredibly Sam Lowes in the first three slots.

Lap 8 and Luca Marini took advantage of a little hesitancy from Gardner and took first with Sam Lowes slipping in behind him. At this point, Bastianini had only a four-point lead over Marini in the title race.

Lap 17 and it was 1. Luca Marini 2. Remy Gardner 3. Sam Lowes and a 3 point difference between Luc and Enea.

Lap 22, 1. Remy Gardner 2. Luca Marini and 3. Sam Lowes, with Enea up to 5th he had a 9 point lead over Marini. Remy’s first GP win and well deserved.

Over the line, it was as above and a class race from Enea Bastianini saw him take the Moto 2 World Championship. Nice guy wins the title, always good to see.

This championship went down to the last race and the last few laps, the whole season has been incredible to watch, and amazing we even arrived here under the Covid restrictions. So well done to Dorna and the riders, and team personnel. We thank you.
