Qualifying

Qualification was looking familiar with Francesco Bagnaia on pole, Jack Miller P2 and Fabio Quartararo P3.

The Race:

Off the line it was Francesco Bagnaia into the lead with Fabio Quartararo second, but not for long as Jack Miller pulled a forceful move on Fabio and slotted himself into P2. By lap two Bagnaia had pulled a 1.428 second gap on Miller, quite an emphatic start for Pecco, once again showing he has the Ducati under control, as he did at Aragon.

Nothing much was happening in this race until lap 14 and fourteen to go, when Fabio Quartararo pushed past Jack Miller for P2, and made it stick, now he could see if Bagnaia was in reach.

Sometimes races just get strung out and well, a bit boring, and this was Misano. We had witnessed the nail-biting conclusion between Bagnaia and Marc Marquez at Aragon, and Fabio Quartararo certainly tried his best to catch Pecco, especially when he could sense if he did not know that Bagnaia’s rear tyre was wearing down and less useable. Fabio rode a steady race, and he needed to do so for the sake of his championship status, he did not get tempted into a scrap with Bagnaia and showed his maturity and calm thinking, something he learnt from his 2020 season, which went sour towards the end. Enea Bastianini had a great race and brought his Ducati into an unexpected but well deserved P3.

The Result:

Francesco Bagnaia, Ducati Lenovo Team, P1. Fabio Quartararo, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, P2. Enea Bastianini, Avintia Esponsorama, Ducati, P3.
