Quali for the first race of the ‘Showdown’, was Josh Brookes, Vision Track Ducati in pole position. Jason O’Halloran, McAMS Yamaha P2 and Ryan Vickers, RAF Regular & Reserve Kawasaki, P3.

The Race:

The start of fourteen laps saw Jason O’Halloran shoot away from the line after a seemingly long hold on the lights. Soon though, Josh Brookes was to take the lead with Jason P2 and McAMS Yamaha teammate Tarran Mackenzie, P3. Brookes was on fire and looking like the current champion he is, after a season where things have not been going his way. An early faller was Ryan Vickers, on the RAF Regular & Reserve Kawasaki, down and out, but OK.

By lap 3, O’Halloran took the lead, soon to be taken back by Brookes with Mackenzie hanging on in P3. This was already a feisty race with a five bike group battling at the front. Lap seven, and Christian Iddon, Vision Track Ducati, took P3 away from Tarran Mackenzie. Having held station for some laps, on lap 10, Jason O’Halloran pulled a move on Brookes to take the lead, Christian Iddon P3 and Mackenzie P4. Lap 12 saw Tarran Mackenzie push past Iddon for P3, with O’Halloran in the lead and Brookes very close in P2. Then the shock as Jason went off at Knickerbrook, an own fault crash, and out of the race and the points.

On the final lap, it was Josh Brookes in the lead with Tarran Mackenzie very much looking like he could sniff the points, knowing O’Halloran was now out, but whilst chasing down Brookes, he still had Christian Iddon on his tail. Tarran pulled a great late brake move on Josh just a few corners from the finish line and held it to take the win, sensational; Josh Brookes stayed second and Iddon third. The young guns of Rory Skinner and Storm Stacey had a mid-field battle of their own, with Stacey taking P10 and Skinner P11.

Results: Tarran Mackenzie, McAMS Yamaha P1. Josh Brookes, Vision Track Ducati P2 and Christian Iddon, Vision Track Ducati, P3.

At the start of race one, O’Halloran had a thirty-point lead over Mackenzie, at the end, it was down to five points.
