Qualifying:

Romano Fenati had been quick over the preliminaries during the weekend and this was reflected when it came to qualifying, with Fenati on pole, Gabriel Rodrigo P2 and Riccardo Rossi P3.

The Race:

It was overcast and a bit chilly for the race as the riders lined up for the start, but good riding conditions, not the sweltering sauna of the flyaways. Fenati was off the line like a rocket and held Gabriel Rodrigo off into the first corner, and on the first lap was leading the pack with Niccolo Antonelli P2 and Andrea Migno P3.

Five laps in and Pedro Acosta had made his way from a lowly P22 to P12 and was having a Championship battle with Sergio Garcia in P11, but it was clear it was a mid-pack fight for these two riders who are usually at the front. Pedro often finds qualifying his nemesis but has often overcome this disadvantage to win or podium, this time though Silverstone, a new track for him was proving a bridge too far.

With nine laps to go, it was Romano Fenati leading, Niccolo Antonelli P2 and Dennis Foggia P3, Antonelli keeping Fenati honest and hounding him all the way. Week-on-week we accurately report that the Moto3 race is often the most exciting and hard-fought, Silverstone was not that race. Fenati had the upper hand and although it was never on a plate for him because of the true grit from Antonelli, this was not the edge of the seat stuff the mostly younger riders usually show.

The Result:

Over the line for the win it was Romano Fenati, Sterilgarda Max Racing Team, P2 Niccolo Antonelli, Avintia VR46 and P3 Dennis Foggia, Leopard Racing. Notably, Izan Guevara, Valresa GASGAS Aspar Team, the rookie who is often overshadowed by Pedro Acosta, took P4, a solid race from the junior world champion. Pedro Acosta still leads the championship despite a P11 finish, his closest rival, Sergio Garcia P16!
