Bennetts Bikesocial Race One:

Qualifying had Glenn Irwin on pole with the McAMS Yamaha team mates of Jason O’Halloran and Tarran Mackenzie P2 and P3. Tarran Mackenzie was back, after injury in race one at Cadwell Park, he missed the final two races at that round.

This twelve-lap race started with three riders blasting away from the grid, with Glenn Irwin in the lead, followed closely by Tarran Mackenzie and Jason O’Halloran. Christian Iddon crashed, zero points for the number three in the championship standings.

On lap four, with Glenn Irwin still leading, Andy Irwin put his hand in the air mid-corner, seemingly something wrong with the BMW, this unfortunately caught out Gino Rea, who was close behind, and he went tumbling out the race, very frustrated. It was getting very sketchy with bikes falling all over the place, and soon it was Glenn Irwin who overstepped the mark and took a low side out of the race. That left Jason O’Halloran in the lead with Tarran Mackenzie second and now Tommy Bridewell third.

O’Halloran held station for a few laps until Mackenzie made his move and made a clean pass on Jason, leaving Tommy Bridewell P3. Tarran Mackenzie had his McAMS Yamaha planted in P1 on the final lap, with Jason O’Halloran P2 and Bridewell P3, and this looked like the finish, until the last corner when Tommy Bridewell blasted to the line to take O’Halloran for P2.

Results:

Tarran Mackenzie, McAMS Yamaha for the win, Tommy Bridewell, Oxford Products Racing Ducati, P2. Jason O’Halloran McAMS Yamaha P3. Rory Skinner was P8, a consistent ride on the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki.

Race Two:

this was a comeback race for Jason O’Halloran, as he took the win on his McAMS Yamaha, with team mate Tarran Mackenzie P2 and the now familiar Tommy Bridewell, Oxford Racing Products Ducati P3. Rory Skinner, FS-3 Kawasaki had another solid race ending P9.

Race Three:

The grid looked slightly different for this race with Tarran Mackenzie on pole, Rory Skinner P2 and Tommy Bridewell P3.

It was a hot day at Snetterton and as race three was about to go, there were bikes stalled on the grid, and riders indicating their engines were too hot to make the start. Safety first, so the start was, well, stopped and the mechanics came running out with paddock stands.

After a flurry of activity, the riders circulated for the warm up lap number two, the race now shortened by one lap to 15, to account for fuel loads. Tarran Mackenzie shot off the line and took the lead, asserting himself, as he had all weekend. Gino Rea, Buildbase Suzuki was P2 and Jason O’Halloran P3, soon though it was O’Halloran in the lead with Tommy Bridewell P2 and Tarran P3.

By lap 5 of 15, it was Tommy Bridewell in the lead with O’Halloran P2 and Mackenzie P3. On lap nine with O’Halloran in the lead, Danny Buchan’s SYNETIQ BMW blew its engine and a misty oil or coolant spilling onto his rear wheel meant he lost control and was catapulted off the bike, landing on his feet then going into a spectacular roll. Luckily he was not injured as he ended up on the track and had to quickly get back to the safety of the infield. Red flag. Buchan’s team mate Andy Irwin was out in the incident but made it back to the box and with a repaired bike was able to re-start.

The grid order for what was now to be a five lap sprint race was Tommy Bridewell P1, Tarran Mackenzie P2 and Jason O’Halloran P3. Lap one and it was Tarran Mackenzie in the lead with Jason O’Halloran P2 and Tommy Bridewell P3. After a brief time in the lead, on the final lap, it was again Tarran Mackenzie in the lead with Bridewell P2 and O’Halloran P3, and that was how it finished, very close.

Results:

Tarran Mackenzie, McAMS Yamaha P1, Tommy Bridewell, Oxford Racing Products Ducati, P2 and Jason O’Halloran, McAMS Yamaha P3.

It’s getting tight in the top eight in preparation for the showdown, so now we move to Silverstone in just a week.
