Shell Malaysia Motorcycle @Moto3 Sepang

On pole after quail was@24MarcoRamirez, his second and consecutive after Australia. Next to him @Tatsuki_Suzuki_24 and@JohnMcP17.

Drama from the get-go before the Moto3 guys even settled on the grid, with@JaumeMasia5having a problem with his bike, a quick repair left him having to start from the back of the grid.

The start saw Tatsuki Suzuki leading by lap one with Ramirez and@AlbertArenasin close pursuit. Jaume Masia had a good start and sliced past five bikes in the first couple of corners, it looked like Macaulay did not want to be home alone at the back of the pack. Within a few laps, it was @gabrirodrigo19first, then Marco Ramirez showing recent good form led the race with Gabriel Rodrigo and Tatsuki Suzuki hard on his tail.

Twelve laps to go and Gabriel Rodrigo once again in the lead, until suddenly he lost the rear of his bike and went tumbling down taking Tatsuki Suzuki with him, Suzukisan’s bike riding up over the top of Rodrigo’s, then @AlonsoLopez_21 with no where to go launched off Suzukisan’s bike and hit the tarmac hard. All riders were OK, but it was a horrific moment for them all.

This incident left@_celin13_in the lead with World Champion@lorenzodallaporta48next and @ayumusasaki_71following close by. Of note, Jaume Masia had now worked his way up to fifth. Then with nine laps to go @m16no (Andrea Migno), Ayumu Sasaki and @Kaito_Toba all seemed to find the same piece of tarmac and all fell, scattered across the track.

With four laps to go Dalla Porta, Celestino Vietti and Albert Arenas were swapping places almost every corner, and then Jaume Masia slotted into third all the way from the back of the grid. Albert Arenas dropped it under the pressure cooker final lap.

On the last lap, Vietti was making Dalla Porta work very hard for the win but at the chequered flag, it was 1. Lorenzo Dalla Porta Leopard Racing 2nd Sergio Garcia Estrella Galicia 0.0 3rd Jaume Masia Mugen Race.

A touching moment on the warm down lap, was @aiogura79donning a helmet in the design of Afridza Munandar, the 20 year old Asia Talent Cup rider who passed away after an accident in Saturday’s race.

Jaume Masia having worked his way from the back of the grid to third, which was amazing, was clearly emotional in parc ferme but pulled himself together in the post-race interview to honour Afridza Munandar. Jaume is a class act and a Championship contender on the Leopard bike in 2020.
