Qualifying:

Quali was looking familiar with the usual suspects of Raul Fernandez on pole, his sixth of the season, Remy Gardner P2 and Fabio Giannantonio P3.

It would remain to be seen how the Moto2 bikes would deal with the bumps, and how Raul, still recovering from his broken hand, would be affected by the physical demands of the sketchy conditions.

The Race:

Raul Fernandez has been on a mission, and a very successful one, in the last few races, and he made it clear that this was to continue as he leapt in front of everyone in the first couple of corners from the start line. By lap two, it was Fernandez in the lead with Remy Gardner P2 and Fabio DiGiannantonio P3. Cameron Beaubier, perhaps with some extra adrenaline at his home race, was P4, then quickly to P2, before Fabio showed him who was to be boss and took P2, followed by Gardner, now P3.

Thirteen laps to go and unlucky for some and on this occasion Remy Gardner, as he dropped the Red Bull KTM Kalex, in an own fault incident. Unable to start, Remy had just made life that bit more difficult in the championship fight with teammate and rival Raul Fernandez, who was meanwhile 2.3 seconds ahead of P2 man Fabio DiGiannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi now P3.

Not gonna lie, this race turned out a bit boring with Raul so dominant, but hey, he’s here to win races and championships, and not necessarily entertain us with a difficult race, although he has done that with Remy in the past. Also, look at the big picture, Raul is now only nine points off Remy for the Championship, and that’s entertainment for the last three races, in bucket loads!

Results:

Raul Fernandez, Red Bull KTM Ajo, Kalex, P1. Fabio DiGiannantonio, Federal Oil Gresini Moto2, Kalex, P2. Marco Bezzecchi, Sky Racing Team VR46, Kalex, P3.

Cameron Beaubier was P5, so a solid result from him on home turf.
