Qualifying:

Quali was the Raul and Remy show once again, with this time the likeable Spaniard Fernandez on pole and his teammate Remy Gardner P2 with Sam Lowes P3.

The Race:

Aron Canet had a flying start and led the first lap with Sam Lowes, Remy and Raul following. Lorenzo Dalla Porta crashed out and Tony Arbolino also, with his bike launching itself through the air, and Tony looking sore as he limped away from the crash scene.

Eighteen laps to go and Augusto Fernandez was in the lead with Sam Lowes P2 and Remy Gardner P3 with Raul Fernandez P4, but soon Sam was in the lead, Remy slotting in behind and Augusto left in P3 with Raul chasing him down in P4. Sam Lowes was looking good and holding the lead for many laps until with 11 laps to go Augusto Fernandez slipstreamed his way past Sam to take P1, so now it was the Elf Marc VDS teammates first and second with the Red Bull Ajo boys of Raul and Remy 3rd and 4th.

Seven Laps to go and Raul Fernandez pushed past his namesake Augusto and this time he meant business as he pulled a gap on Augusto, Sam Lowes P3 and Remy P4, within a couple of corners Raul had a 0.822 second gap on the others. Aron Canet, having done so well at the start of the race, crashed out with five laps to go, unable to restart.

The Result:

With three laps to go Raul Fernandez had pulled a 1.464 second gap on the scrapping Augusto, Remy and Sam. On the last lap, with his teammate Raul 1.739 seconds ahead Remy Gardner pulled a forceful but fair move on Augusto Fernandez taking P2 and making it the Raul and Remy show once more. Over the line, it was Raul Fernandez, Red Bull KTM Ajo, P2 Remy Gardner, Red Bull KTM AJO, P3 Augusto Fernandez, Elf Marc VDS Racing Team and P4 Sam Lowes, Elf Marc VDS Racing Team.

After an uncharacteristic crash out of the race at Sachsenring for Raul Fernandez, he came to Assen to make a statement and did so, clearly dominating this race, a great confidence booster as we now break for five weeks for the Summer.
