Oh the Rupettes Ride

The ?Ride of the Ruperts? (RotR) is the most prestigious of motorcycle rides taking place in Sussex and London each year and open toeveryone who rides. ?Oh the Rupettes Ride? (OtRR) is a new and rather special RotR event held each June celebrating women on two wheels and is only open to men upon special invitation from a female rider.

Our aimis to raise money for worthy causes whilst having fun and keeping overheads to an absolute minimum. We do this through a network of kind volunteers and partners/sponsors.

It’s no secret that the RotR’s origins lay in the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. A small group of us always loved taking part so much that one chap decided to organise a small private ride where we could dress dapper on our motorcycles and recreate the moment. Of course, that ride never actually happened, as the Ride of the Ruperts grew out of all intended proportions and became what it is today.

Due to popular demand we run a simple but official registration process to enable up to 300 bikes to take part in each of the three major rides. We also keep an active ?Reserves List’ for eager riders ready to jump in at a moment’s notice should a space become available.

Throughout the year we also lay on a small number of bespoke rides and events asadditional fundraisers, such as our annual visit to the popular Bike Shed London Show at Tobacco Dock.

Back in 2018 the RotR committed to raising funds for the Movember Foundation and, to date, with the benefit of Gift Aid, we have donated just shy of £32k to their cause.

Coronavirus restrictions affected our activities in 2020 but this has enabled us to rethink and refresh our events With this came a decision to support The Movement for Non-Mobile Children (Whizz-Kidz) and to change our end venue, and we look forward to forming strong relationships with newpartners, as well as continuing to support our existing ones.

Whizz-Kidz, a fantastic charity that transforms the lives of disabled children by providing vital equipment such as wheelchairs, as well as the support and life skills they need to reach their full potential.
